Phyllis “Mary” Jacuzzo, 84 of Perry passed away peacefully at her home on December 25, 2015. She was born in Leicester, England on November 14, 1931 to the late Cecil (Beatrice Ball) Towers. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Joseph Jacuzzo, brothers Ronald and Reginald Towers, sister Doris Nagle.

Mary was a longtime member of St. Isidore’s Parish in Perry. She was a woman that lived her faith as it permeated through her. She always felt so blessed to have her four beautiful children. Mary was a kind, generous and loving woman that would do anything for her family.

She is survived by her children Joseph (Amy) Jacuzzo of Seneca Falls; Sally (Peter) Sullivan of Satellite Beach, FL; Joanne (James) Knapp of Warsaw; Lisa (John) Wheeler of Perry; sister Patricia Granger of SC; 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.

ALICE G. MAZUR

Age 94, of Batavia, died peacefully Wednesday December 23, 2015 at Strong Memorial Hospital. She was born September 2, 1921 in Depew, a daughter of the late John and Mary (Gonglewski) Gales, also preceded in death by her beloved husband, John F. Mazur, Jr.; sisters, Frances Szelewski, Stella Gales; brothers, Norbert, Stan and Frank Gales; brothers-in-law, Walter and Joseph Mazur; father and mother-in-law, John F. (Katherine) Mazur, Sr.

Mrs. Mazur along with her late husband owned and operated Johnny's Bar in Batavia since 1955 and today run by their daughter, Linda. Alice was a longtime member of Ascension Parish, an avid Bills fan, enjoyed Bingo and playing gin rummy. She will be remembered as a wonderful, caring mother and grandmother who always put her family first.

She is survived by her loving children; Greg (Jude) Mazur of FL, Linda Mazur of Batavia and James (Annette) Mazur of Batavia; grandchildren, Christine (Tim) Trottier of MD and J.J. Carol S. Marsh, 76, of Corfu passed away Thursday December 24, 2015
peacefully at her home.  She was born January 11, 1939 in Brighton, New York
to the late Reginald (Virginia Bryan) Smith.  She is preceded in death by
her twin sister Jean Raffa.

Carol loved the farm, horses, being outdoors and most of all being with her
family and friends. Carol was an avid horsewoman.  She began her career
training horses and playing polo.  She was the Committee Chairman of the
1974 Rochester/Canandaigua Horse Show.  She enjoyed driving carriages and
owning standard bred race horses.    She was part of the Genesee County 4-H
Horse Committee where she was committed to helping kids learn horsemanship.

She is survived by her husband Roy N. Marsh Jr. of Corfu; daughters Laura
(Bruce) Bender of Brighton; Anne (Chip) Reitz of Hemlock; Pauline Marsh of
Fairport; Denelle Marsh-Rittersback of NH; Julie Marsh-Racinowski (Matt) of

Batavia - ­ Harry E. Dilcher, Sr., 87, of Muncy, PA, formerly of Batavia, passed away Friday, (December 25, 2015) ​at Muncy Valley Skilled Nursing Facility in Muncy, PA.

Mr. Dilcher was born October 8, 1928 in Bergen, the son of the late Fred and Mildred (Nye) Dilcher, Jr.

He served his country honorably with the Army during the Korean War. Many Elba residents will recall his barbershop that he ran from 1960 ­ 1970. Prior to retiring in 1991 from the housekeeping department at the VA Medical Center in Batavia, Mr. Dilcher worked in various businesses and industries.

Surviving are his children, Dr. Harry (Karen) Dilcher, Jr. of Muncy, PA; and Paul (Karin) Dilcher of Wyoming, MI. Seven grandchildren and twelve great­grandchildren also survive.

Harry is preceded in death by his sister, Betty Plue.

There will be no visitation and services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Interment will take place in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Rochester.

Joseph Paul Nicosia, 55, of Corfu, passed away suddenly on December 23, 2015 at Millard Fillmore Suburban. Born in Cheektowaga, NY, on February 25, 1960 to Kathryn (Spring) Nicosia and the late Emmanuel Nicosia.

Joe was a 1978 graduate of Akron High School. He worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator for Northeast Diversification (Paving) in Lancaster for many years. An avid outdoorsman, Joe loved hunting, riding his Harley, and snowmobiling.  He was a member of the Genesee Sno-Packers.

Joe was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, godfather, and friend.  He took great pride in his family and loved making people laugh.

Besides his mother Kathryn, Joe is survived by his wife, Patti (Waite) Nicosia; his sons, Joseph (Kim) Nicosia of Batavia; Eric Leffel of Indian Falls; his daughter, Michelle (fiancé Mike Hope) Nicosia of Tampa, FL; his brother, David Nicosia of Akron; sister Mary Jo and the late Robert Janiszeski of Akron; sister Debra and the late Chuck Rebmann of Akron; mother-in-law Jean Waite, and the late Bill Waite; brothers-in-law, Larry Waite of FL, and Scott (Robin) Waite of Corfu; sisters -in-law Gail (Stephen) Mulleavy of VA, and Peggy (Patrick) Weissend of Corfu. Several nieces and nephews also survive him.

John S., Kujawski, 75 of East Bethany, passed away on Friday (December 25, 2015) at his residence after a brief illness. 

He was born May 7, 1940 in Batavia, NY, a son of the late John and Florence Tradowski Kujawski. 

John was a graduate of Batavia High School class of 1959 and then worked at Kisiel Die Casting until 1960, when he was inducted into the U.S. Air Force. He was a jet fighter mechanic with the 307 Tactical Fighter Squad 31st. After traveling all over the U.S., Europe and the Far East, he returned home and worked for R.E. Chapin in Batavia as a tool and die maker until his retirement in 2003. 

John enjoyed traveling with his family in his motorhome, fishing and exploring the outdoors. He enjoyed skeet shooting and became a registered referee in 1976, officiating several shooting competitions. He became an assistant chief referee with the National Skeet Shooting Association in 2005 and helped run several shoots throughout the U.S. and Canada. He was inducted into the New York Skeet Shooting Hall of Fame in 2000 and the National Skeet Shooting Hall of Fame in 2013. He remained extremely active in skeet shooting competitions throughout the country until his death. He was a member of the Five Point Rod & Gun Club in Wyoming, the Conesus Lake Sportsmans Club in Lakeville, Addision Rod & Gun Club, American Legion Post 303 of Bonita Springs FL and the Polish Falcons Post 498 of Batavia. 

He was predeceased by his loving wife, Sheila Henries Kujawski, who died July 18, 2009. 

Survivors include his dear loving children, John (Jamie Lee) Kujawski of Bonita Springs, FL, Andrew Kujawski of Castile, Sarah (Jason) Flint of Caledonia and Matthew (Paula Bianchi) Kujawski of Attica. Grandchildren, Jonathan, Zachary and Hannah Kujawski and Samantha Marchisin. Sisters, Florence (Michael) Stanley and Barbara Goraczewski, both of Florida. Brothers, Joseph (Joann) Kujawski and Frank (Mary) Kujawski, both of Florida. Nieces and nephews also survive.

Batavia– Mrs. Ethel Goodenbury, age 99, of Batavia, passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at the Genesee County Nursing Home, following a brief illness.

Mrs. Goodenbury was born June 20, 1916 in South Byron, a daughter of the late Clair and Laura Dusen Birge.

A member of the First United Methodist Church in Batavia, Mrs. Goodenbury was a member and past-president of the YWCA's Rainbow Club and enjoyed playing bingo with her friends on Saturdays at noontime at 400 Towers.

Her husband, Henry Goodenbury, passed away in 1983.

She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Rittersback of Batavia; four granddaughters; seven great-grandchildren; her half-sister, Delores Dinapoli of Virginia and several nieces and nephews.

She was the mother of the late Richard Goodenbury who died in 1994 and sister of the late Kenneth Birge and Doris Brancato.

Jane H. Cygan, age 93, of Perry, died on Sunday December 27, 2015 at the Wyoming County Community Hospital in Warsaw. She was born in Tonawanda, New York on May 25, 1922 a daughter of the late Walter and Katherine (Hartig) Schumacher. She is preceded in death by her husband John A Cygan who passed away in 1982; sons Daniel and David Cygan; great grandson  Derek Richards and siblings Lllian, Robert, William and Kenneth Schumacher.

Jane worked for the former Perry Knitting Mill in Perry and retired in 1979 from the former Robeson Cutlery after 33 years of service.She was a member of St. Isidore’s Catholic Parish (St. Stanislaus Kostka Church). She enjoyed roller skating and dancing in her younger years. She was an avid euchre and pinochle player.

She is survived by a daughter Donna (Doug) Austin of Mims, FL; son Anthony “Skeeter” (Patricia) Cygan of Conroe, TX;  sister Delores Reitmeier of Kenmore; 11 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.

Emil P. Jaroszewski, age 91, of Perry, died on Monday December 28th at the Wyoming County Nursing Facility in Warsaw where he had been residing.Emil was born in Perry on July 5, 1924 a son of the late Stanley and Mary (Witek) Jaroszewski. He is preceded in death by 3 sisters: Lottie Bucci, Virginia Zarkowski and Helen Chilson.

Emil served with the US Army during WWII with the 17th Airborne.Emil was a graduate of Perry High School. He retired from the former Champion Products in 1987.He was a member of the Brick Presbyterian Church in Perry, lifetime member of the Perry VFW Post #5009 which he helped construct, a former member of the Perry Fire Department and a member of the Perry Fire Department Exempts. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, bowling and spending time with his grandchildren. He was one that was able to fix anything that was put in front of him.

He is survived by his wife  Anna (Carney) Jaroszewski whom he married on July 2, 1949; daughter Sandra Ann (Larry) Bauer of Hamburg, a son; Todd (Tamara) Jaroszewski of Harrisburg, PA.; 4 grandchildren Bradley (Caitlyn Gorham) Bauer, Bethany (Dr. Andrew) Bukowinski, Kira and Marisa Jaroszewski; 2 great grandchildren Benjamin and Colin Bukowinski along with many nieces and nephews.

Batavia - Francis W. Whitmyre, Sr., 78, of Batavia, formerly of Holley, passed away Tuesday, (December 29, 2015) at his home, in Batavia.

Mr. Whitmyre was born March 8, 1937 in Milton, PA, a son of the late John and Margaret (Coup) Whitmyre.

Francis was a member of the VFW in Holley and was a great supporter of the post.  He loved wrestling, gardening, wood working, and was an avid lotto player.  He also greatly enjoyed spending time with his family.

Surviving are his children, Pamela Whitmyre-Dickinson, Margaret Whitmyre, April (James Jr.) Connors, and Francis Whitmyre Jr. all of Batavia; grandchildren, James (Amber) Connors III of Rochester, Anna Connors of NC, Joshua and Rachael Pashong both of Batavia.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.

He is preceded in death by a son, John William Whitmyre as well as a brother and two sisters.

FLORENCE "ANNIE" KUREK

Age 74, of East Pembroke, died unexpectedly on Friday December 25, 2015 in Bradenton, FL. She was born October 7, 1941 in Dunbartonshire, Scotland, a daughter of Susanne Johnston of Scotland and the late Andrew Docherty.

Annie was retired from WROTB and will be remembered for her quick wit, warmth and friendliness. Her personality was such, that if she told you to go to hell, you would look forward to the trip. She enjoyed her weekly Bingo trips with George & Mary Seiler, Debby Falcone and weekly lunches with her best friend, Serena Baiocco.

Age 26, of Batavia, died suddenly Friday December 25, 2015 at home. He was born in Wichita Falls, TX on November 16, 1989, to Teddy and Jackie (Slocum) Gann of Batavia.

Kaleab was a parts manager for Auto Zone in Batavia. His passions were music and science, music of any genre, he played all types of instruments, wrote songs and sang as well.

Surviving along with his parents are his brother and best friend, Nick (Sherie) Gann of Pittsburgh, PA; sister, Siscley Gann of TX; uncles, Walt Gann and Jim Bruce; aunts, Gail Gray all of TX, Trudye Cantero and family of OK along with several cousins and friends in Texas and New York.

James W. Tetter, 67 of Elba passed peacefully on Wednesday, December 30 at Unity Hospital after a brief battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

He was born October 14, 1948 in Batavia, NY, the son of the late Robert and Elizabeth Randall Tetter.

Survived by the love of his life, wife of 20 years Dona Rohan Tetter; daughters; Tammy (Dan) Rykert of Oakfield, Kimberly (Fred Woods) Tetter of Batavia and Lisa (Rich) Biegasiewicz of Batavia; step-son Nathan (Chrissy) Buczek of Elba; step-daughter Kimberly Buczek of Cincinnati, Ohio; the beloved Papa of five beautiful grandchildren, Courtney, Zachary, Dylan, Avalynn, and Nathan; and sister Mary (David) Heale; nephew Bryan Heale and late niece Stacy Heale.

Jim graduated from Batavia High School in 1966, was drafted in the U.S. Army in 1969 and served in Korea.  He retired from the U.S. Post Office in Batavia after 34 years of service in 2003.  He also worked part-time at the Rochester International Airport as a baggage handler for 13 years and retired in 2014.  He was a member of the Town of Batavia Volunteer Fire Department for over 25 years.  He played Contrabass in the Mighty St. Joe’s Alumni Drum Corps.  He spent many summers as an equipment judge for the Genesee Valley Judging Association.

His hobbies included gardening, camping, carpentry, cooking, was known far and wide for his chicken barbeques, and traveling around the United States and Europe with Dona.  His greatest joys came from spending time with his grandchildren, supplying them with an abundant amount of cherries, attending all of their sporting events and concerts, and making memories carving pumpkins and surprising his family with his annual Christmas game.

Russel A. Wentz, 71 of Akron, passed away Friday (January 1, 2016) at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital in Williamsville after a brief illness.

He was born March 2, 1944 in Onalinda, PA, a son of the late David A. and Agnes Cordwell Wentz.

Russel was employed by Bandag Tire in Buffalo prior to his retirement.

Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Doreen Bogacz Wentz of Akron. Three daughters, Mary Wentz of Lackawanna, Barbara Wentz of Buffalo and Dawn Wentz of Buffalo. Son in-law, Shannon Baun of Lyndonville, NY. Seven grandchildren, Crystal Wentz, Robert Kron, Caitlynn Wentz, Emily Wentz, Megan Duggan, Brandon Baun and Kaley Duggan. Great-granddaughter, Alessa Wentz.

He was the father of the late Laura Baun who passed away in 2013.

TYLER F. LONGHINI

Age 24, of Olean, died unexpectedly on Thursday December 31, 2015 at his home. He was born August 30, 1991 in Williamsville, NY a son of, Sandra (Gardner) of Batavia and Robert Longhini of FL, he was preceded in death by his aunt, Joyce Gardner-Renzo.

Tyler was employed at Wendy's in Olean and was known for being very social. He enjoyed music, loved his family and his mom's dog, Buffy.

Surviving along with his parents are his brothers, Jeffery M. (Melissa) Gardner and Samuel C. Longhini all of Batavia; maternal grandparents, Carl (Pat) Gardner of Batavia; uncle, James (Laurie) Gardner of Rochester; aunt, Mary Kay Longhini of Batavia along with many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

CATHERINE R. RAINES

Age 87, of Alexander, died peacefully Friday January 1, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 18, 1928 in Alexander, a daughter of the late, Charles J. and Margaret (Gilhooly) Buckenmeyer; also preceded in death by siblings, Elizabeth Buckenmeyer, Charles Buckenmeyer, Jr., Mary Falkowski, Dorothy Moynihan and Lucy Moag.

Catherine was a local real estate agent for many years and a member of Immaculate Mary Parish in East Bethany. She graduated in 1946 from Alexander Central School and was the class Salutatorian . A life member of the Catholic Daughters, former member of the Alexander Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary. Catherine was a cancer survivor who had a deep faith in the Lord and a true love for her family, she enjoyed karaoke, singing and decorating. She will be remembered for her creative writing, poetry and her often "opinionated" letters to the editor at the Daily News.

Surviving is her husband, Paul R. Raines, Sr. of Alexander and her loving children, Paul R. (Michele) Raines, Jr. of Lyndonville, Mark W. Raines of Alexander, Dennis G. (Barb Phillips) Raines of Batavia, Rene M. (Robert) Smith of Batavia, Kevin M. (Darlene) Raines of Alexander, Eric C. "Ricky" (Heidi) Raines Sr. of Alexander and Brian J. (Michelle) Raines of Wyoming; brothers, Francis of Alexander, George of FL and Bernard of Alexander; sisters-in-law, Violet Buckenmeyer of Darien, Irene Raines-Sundberg of Orchard Park, Gerry Buckenmeyer of Alexander and Dorothy Buckenmeyer of FL; brother-in-law, James Hoffman of Attica; daughter-in-law, Dawn Raines of Attica; 23 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Byron - Karen L. Sharp, 70, of Byron, a Registered Nurse at Attica Prison, prior to her retirement in 2012, died Saturday, January 2, 2016 at her home in Byron.

Mrs. Sharp was born June 6, 1945 in Albion, the daughter of the late Clifford and Virginia Standish.

She was a former member of the Byron Rescue Squad and enjoyed baking, cooking, yardwork and raising horses.  She dearly loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Clifford L. Sharp, whom she married March 18, 1972; her children, Larry (Donna) Sharp of GA, Michele Arcouette of MS, Shari Sharp of PA and Aaron (Pam) Sharp of Byron; a brother, Harvey (Jackie) McMurray of MS; her dear friend, Vicki Novak of Byron; 6 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.   

Friends may call on Wednesday from 1 to 3 p.m. at H.E. Turner & Co., Inc., 51 S. Heide Marie Eddy, 54, died peacefully in her home on Saturday, January 2, 2016 in North Java, NY. She was born on May 19, 1961 in Warsaw, NY to the late Donald and Helma Reisdorf.

In 1984 she married Mark Eddy and together they raised three children. Heide worked as a School Aid/Monitor for the Pioneer School District for over 10 years, and was particularly known for her quick wit, sense of humor, and unfiltered thoughts.

Heide is survived by her husband Mark, sons Bradley and Jeffery, her daughter Cindy and her granddaughters Haylee and Naomi.

Ann Marie Ciraolo, 47, of Oakfield passed away Saturday January 2, 2016 peacefully at her home. She was born on August 13, 1968 in Buffalo to Paul (Sue) Moser of Hartland and the late Margaret (Grunthiner) Moser.

Ann Marie worked as a CNA at Mount Saint Mary’s Hospital in Lewiston. Above all else, she was a devoted house wife and mother.

She is survived by her husband Joseph Ciraolo of Oakfield; sons Samuel and Antonio Ciraolo of Oakfield and Joseph Ciraolo of Japan; brothers Mike (Flo) Moser of Pembroke, Mark (Bonnie) Moser of E. Bethany, James (Kim) Moser of Bergen and sister Maryland Moser of Hartland along with many nieces and nephews.

There will be no prior calling hours. A 4:00PM Memorial Service will be held on Thursday January 7, 2016 at Gilmartin Funeral Home & Cremation Company, Inc 329-333 West Main Street Batavia, New York 14020.
